OPW - May 8 - Mobile Apps Unlocked was last week and was a smorgasbord of learning and networking. There were a couple people speaking from Tinder. Here's some of the things I learned that are most notable IMHO.
- Tinder uses
*Appboy for mobile marketing automation
*Singular for analysis
*mParticle for standardising calls
- It's important to use both email and notifications in tandem
- Yik Yak found that its optimal to send global notifications every couple of days
- Personalise your push notifications and you could see 800% open rate increase
- Consider your 'critical events' i.e. what actions show users getting value
- Measure your critical events and figure out daily use
- Make segmentation a core competency
- Look at user behavior, character-type your users and you'll be able to figure out how hard you'll need to work to retain groups of them
- If you don't have a data scientist, consider hiring one
- On Twitter, a good bet is to pay to promote other people's tweets about your brand
- Check out Kamcord. Could be good for promoting dating apps
- Instagram should get you better ad ROI than Facebook right now (~10%)
- Youtube should be at the core of your influencer marketing program
- If people see your brand advertised on TV they will perceive you as a large brand
- Millenials still consume more TV media than any other media
- Post transaction surveys are probably the best way of measuring offline advertising
- Ad budgets are shifting towards video, also social, also programmatic ads
- Lo-quality videos can do very well
- Look at your retention and ARPU by marketing channel and source
- Consider partnering with an established loyalty program
- Think about how you can become your customer's ritual
